I drink a lot of Sangiovese—it's neck-in-neck with my Pinot Noir consumption. Thus, I have a solid frame of reference for the grape and how I want it to taste. And this sh!t is leg!t. 

It plays like a pure and focused Chianti Classico Riserva/Gran Selezione, recalling the style of Istine—no higher compliment. Elegance and subtle power, layers of red fruits balancing succulence with saltiness, savory herbs and spice, tannins that carry flavor.

Two friends seeking Albarino are gently distracted by the uppermost corner of the vineyard—700 Sangiovese vines tucked against Willamette Valley oaks. Not just any Sangiovese vines, but Biondi-Santi clone Sangiovese—the birth-clone of Brunello di Montalcino as we all know it. How do you say no to the opportunity to make wine from those vines? Sacred Shore: Our inaugural vintage working with Treos Vineyard. The soils are marine sediments under loess deposits. There will not be a lot of vintages where the sun shines enough to fully soften Sangiovese in the Willamette Valley. 2021 was one where we just got over the threshold. Abundant heat rounded out the tannins, and loosened up the acidity just enough, and even then it was the last fruit picked by a number of weeks. We sorted whole clusters into a concrete fermentor where pumpovers and pigeage took place over the course of 18 days. Twenty months in large barrels, and two years in bottle later, we are pleased to share this wine with you.
