97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Bright aromas of pomegranate, wildflowers, tiny purple flowers, and wild strawberries. Medium-bodied, it has focused tannins, bright acidity, terrific linearity, and tremendous energy and length. Kelley believes this is the finest vintage she has made from this vineyard. The House Block combines basalt with fossilized sedimentary soils containing shells and is surrounded by mature oak trees. Drink this wine over the coming 20 years."

This is my fifth bottling of Canary Hill Vineyard. Originally planted in 1982 by Dick and Nancy Daniel, this classic Eola-Amity Hills vineyard was purchased by Ken Wright Cellars in 2006. Their vineyard manager, Seth Miller, has been farming it organically with the utmost love and care. It’s called “Canary Hill” because the founders were told that the countless little yellow birds that live there were canaries. They are Western goldfinches, but the name stayed. This vineyard is beautiful.

The Canary Hill 2024 is a darkish medium, saturated red with eye-catching transparency and a youthful appearance. Canary Hill produces serious Pinot true to the Eola-Amity Hills, and the 2024 is no exception. The nose begins with powdery minerals and subtle but rich blue and blackberries with hints of appealing spices. The mouth is intensely fruited-rich cherry-with beautiful structure. There’s a powerful stillness about it. It’s intense. Not a tame wine. It’s lithe and not lumbering. The finish is long and delicious.
