93 points Wine Spectator: "Precise and brooding at first, then slowly unfurls rich blueberry and red plum flavors that are laced with black olive, crushed stone and pepper beef, finishing with broad-shouldered tannins. Best from 2022 through 2029."
2016 vintage notes
This is awesome. So are the others, but after tasting and re-tasting the line-up, this emerged as our favorite. It's not yet rated but in our book, it's damn-near perfect. It has a redder, purer personality that beams from the glass. It brings power, it brings elegance, it brings the whole package.

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 100% Syrah, the 2015 Syrah Powerline Vineyard is much more backward, brooding, and mineral-laced, with sensational notes of blackcurrants, cassis, crushed rock, and tapenade. A true powerhouse on the palate, with terrific concentration, building tannin, and a great, great finish, it's a singular, incredible wine that does everything right. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following decade."
2014 vintage notes
95 points, Highly Recommended, Wine Spectator: "A knockout Syrah, precise and impeccably built but explosive with personality. Smoky roasted meat and floral blackberry aromas combine with bold, supple flavors of dark plum, pepper and licorice. The tannins are big but polished. Drink now through 2024. 1,319 cases made."
94-97 points Wine Advocate: "A new cuvee that’s all from the Powerline Vineyard in the southern part of the Walla Walla Valley, the 2014 Syrah Powerline is all from the Phelps clone, was fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged in puncheons. One of the more bloody, meaty, iron-laced and savory Syrahs in the lineup, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a thick, unctuous texture, ripe tannin and a finish that makes your heart beat a touch faster. Give bottles a few years in the cellar and enjoy over the following decade.”
