Hundred Suns Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2023
- Buy any 12 bottles or Build a Case® and save!
The Eola-Amity Hills, where this collection of dry farmed vineyards grows, is comprised of soils formed from ancient volcanic rock. A cooler than average spring moved quickly into hot summer days. Hand harvested and fermented with natural yeast this wine has a core of blue fruit layered over brilliant acidity born from the cool diurnal shifts resulting from the Van Duzer Corridor wind.
75% Big Cheese Vineyard
25% Holmes Hill Vineyard
Tasting Notes:
As always, the wind-swept Eola-Amity Hills delivered a wine packed with dark fruit, profound mouthfeel, and the striking acid that this pile of rock is known for. Look for black cherries, mocha, petrichor, and floral notes with hints of earth, licorice and sage. The mouthfeel has fine grain, cocoa-like tannins with dense, dark berry finish that will make this wine fantastic now and for years to come.

2022 vintage notes
96 points Decanter: "A classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. The Eola-Amity bottling from Hundred Suns is a stellar Pinot Noir blended from three of the appellations sites, all picked on the same day, 13, October in that cool vintage that relied on a warm autumn ending to come to fruition. Big Cheese, Wahle and En Gedi Vineyards come together to create a stunning wine. Smoke, exotic spices and dried Mediterranean scrub for a showy, savoury aromatic wine. The palate is loaded with rooibos tea, smoky clove, white pepper and mouthfuls of juicy blue and black bramble fruits. It's a touch feral and ferrous, but its 100% enjoyable. For under $50, this wine is very, very impressive."
Us: While we liked the 2021 version, we love this 2022. What's the reason for our even greater enthusiasm? The nose leaps from the glass and then you immediately notice the fantastic texture, carrying electric dark cherries and deep blues toward the delightfully smooth finish, capped with Eola-Amity spices. -Marcus

93 points Wine Spectator: "Precise and dynamic, with handsome boysenberry, crushed stone and dusky spice flavors that build richness and tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032."
When we say "blue fruits" in a tasting note, what do we mean? I don't see so much as blueberries but more a color spectrum of blue tones and the "coolness" associated with blue. So yeah, this is the Miles Davis Kind of Blue of Willamette Valley Pinot—and it's so cool! Immediately enjoyable without sacrificing depth, a combo of fun fruit and vivacious Eola-Amity savor. -Marcus
