For all the love Jason professed to the other Eyrie sites, it was at Roland Green that he fawned over the perfect nature of Pinot noir ripening here, the Goldilocks vineyard, “a near perfect site." As Jason explained, it’s at this elevation that a conundrum happens—the actual ripening of the grapes slows yet the wines can taste riper because of their darker nature (for a more extreme example, see Daphne).

This vintage of Roland Green lives up to Jason's words like no other vintage has. Wonderful depth and a velvety feel, the finish is like biting into a perfect little ripe blueberry with a crystal of good sea salt—the interplay of sweet and delicately salty is electric!  Planted in 1989, at 540 to 720 feet, named after David’s father, Roland Green Lett. -Marcus

96 points Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Roland Green possesses the expressiveness, detail and weightlessness of the best wines from the 2021 vintage in the Willamette Valley. The nose is a deep well of red cherry jam, cranberry, tea leaves, lavender and alpine spices, revealing additional nuances with each return to the glass. The palate features complex, spicy, conifer-laced flavors structured by finely astringent tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a very long, layered finish."

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.
