94 points Wine Spectator: "Plump and permeated by rose, cherry, raspberry, iron, tar and tobacco flavors, this red has power and intensity. Assertive tannins emerge on the finish, yet this has plenty in reserve. Shows a fine purity and harmony. Best from 2024 through 2042."
95 points Vinous, Antonio Galloni: "The 2016 Barbaresco is a knock-out. And it is, for lack of a better word, the entry-level wine in this range. Freshly cut flowers, mint, cinnamon, red berry fruit and orange zest are some of the notes that lift from a Barbaresco that is all class. There is plenty of structure, but the purity of the fruit is so striking that the tannins are not especially noticeable. The 2016 is a stunning wine, that’s all there is to it."
An impressive balance of super pretty fruit and elegannt structure, showing delicious accents of spice, tobacco, and menthol. Decant for an hour and serve with hearty fare if drinking now -- it's already very tasty but (of course) has the goods to age for a decade. - Marcus
