As we finally got to taste the bottled nectar yesterday (more about that momentarily), we discussed with Cameron founder/guru John Paul what a tasting note might say. This was my version:
I tasted this in barrel a year ago and I have been (respectfully) bugging John about when it will be ready ever since. I taste countless wines in a year's time and this one, even from barrel, had the kind of impact that won't quit.
We agreed: enough said.
I won't debase the 2021 Friulano with a "this smells/tastes like X, Y, and Z." It's just awesome and it glows in the glass. It's John's ode to wines of Vodopivec, fermented on its skins in amphora for 60 days, then transferred to a neutral barrel for extended aging. Mouthfilling, electric. Mega-limited as in 1 barrel produced. -Marcus
