98 points Decanter: "The home site was planted in 2015 with a field blend of approximately 12 different heirloom and open-pollinated selections, covering about 2.6 acres. The site features a diverse array of tropical fruits, almonds, and toasted nuts. The kaleidoscope in the White Walnut line up. Ripe fruits: think guava, papaya and juicy Meyer lemon, intense in its balance, minerality and savoury framing. Wild herbs, spices, freshly cut stone fruits, and pear. Deliciously complex and loaded with nuance, yet still lovable by your hedonist friends."
97 points, #16 in James Suckling's Top 100 US Wines of 2025: "A brilliant, spicy and vivid wine that’s bright and tangy in citrus and kiwi fruit, but also offering white pepper and star anise flavors on the lively palate. White peaches, lemon blossoms and minerals develop as you sip. Medium-bodied and rich in flavor but lean in texture, with racy balance. Drink or hold."
97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pouring a bright silver/yellow hue, the 2023 Chardonnay White Walnut Vineyard is sourced from a site planted in 2015 with a mix of heirloom and suitcase-selected clones. This wine is stunning. Medium to full-bodied, with layers of grapefruit, flinty minerality, and vibrant citrus, it has a slightly more hedonistic edge, reminiscent of Puligny-Montrachet, and a remarkable saline lift from start to finish. This is top-tier white wine. 285 cases produced. Drink over the next 10-12 years."
I tasted this at the winery a month ago. Then I had another bottle of it. Last week, another one—my equivalent to when wine reviewers write "tasted twice with consistent notes," only thrice. The consistent note: I love this Chardonnay. It is fantastic and thirst-quenching, complex and well-rounded—such a rarity for a wine to fill all of those niches. That means that when I savor it on its own I can think about all of the beautifully intermingled citrus notes dancing with lemongrass, the way flavor explodes through the finish (yeah, explodes!). Or when I pour a glass with dinner (hanger steak salad with golden beets, snow peas and little gems with a light goat cheese vinaigrette) it can be the perfect pair. I did both. And when I tasted it at the winery it stood out as the best wine—red or white—I tasted over a weekend in wine country. Extraordinarily great. -Marcus
