An outstanding vintage in Washington = more fantastic raw materials available for Secret Squirrel. A delicious medley of red and black fruits, tobacco, cedar, hints of dark chocolate and attractive barrel spice make for an outsized value. Really, it's more than we can reasonably expect for a Washington Cabernet at this price. As if we need a "plus," since it's Corliss this had extra time in both barrel and bottle before release (what kind of Washington Cab at this price spends 22 months in barrel? the answer is no other!) so this squirrel is simply singing now. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Merlot.

We will never advise you to buy wine based on the label. Especially if there's a critter on it. But when the juice inside comes from one of the best wineries in the state and when it's priced liked this, it changes all the rules.

It's not just a squirrel with a mask, it's a Corliss wine. Yes, THAT Corliss—easily among Washington's top producers. The Secret Squirrels are sourced from the Corliss family of vineyards—excellent sites on Red Mountain and in Walla Walla—and these are 2018s, the new releases, which means they got the Corliss luxury treatment. Ask yourself which other Washington Cabs and Rhone Blends are from such top notch vineyards, and which spent nearly two years resting in French oak, then more time in bottle before release and you'll need (very) few fingers to count the other wines. Luxury treatment, Wednesday night prices—we're telling you to load up on these critters!

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.
