Like a combination of Twill's 2014 and 2015 WV Pinot, and dare I say better! Lovely aromas of raspberry, rose, and spice box, with the wonderful Twill signature of blood orange joining the party. Sinewy and savory, weaving red fruits, rosemary, and mineral notes together through the elegantly complex finish. I wrote, "plays like a Langhe Nebbiolo on the nose then like a Burgundy on the palate," which I think is fascinating and more importantly, delicious. - Marcus - Marcus
2015 vintage notes
This is my 14th year selling Oregon wine and besides feeling a little old writing that, I'm feeling incredibly thankful. What has me feeling all warm and fuzzy? The wine I'm swirling and tasting, the very good folks behind it and once again, the opportunity to share it with you.
Twill Cellars again demonstrates why they're our new discovery of the last couple years with the release of their 2015 Willamette Valley Pinot noir. They are one of the few wineries in my 14 years where I'll say confidently: they are doing everything right.
Twill made a little more Willamette Valley Pinot in 2015 (still only 325 cases, a relative drop in the bucket) so they lowered the price -- such a simple thing that's unicorn-rare these days. Don't mistake a low price for a simple wine, as this displays outstanding complexity, elegance, and brilliance unseen in $20 Oregon Pinot.
It seems redundant to say that I strongly encourage you to grab this phenomenal Pinot bargain but what the heck? I strongly encourage you!!
