#9 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2023, 94 points, Smart Buy: "Precise and elegantly structured, with detailed raspberry, savory tea and crushed stone accents that gather richness and tension toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2031."
Another milestone for Willamette Valley wine: one of the world's most famous wine houses, Louis Jadot, buying into Oregon wine and doubling, then tripling down. And if we're talking Jadot we must be referring to Resonance, their fantastic project that began with one exceptional vineyard and has grown to three. Jadot brings nearly 200 years of viticultural experience to Oregon and channels it into a handful of fantastic Resonance wines, beginning with their Willamette Valley Pinot noir. The brand new 2021 is hot off a stellar Wine Spectator 94—we've tasted it and no surprise, it's excellent!
A delightful Pinot noir even at this early stage, showing beautiful raspberry on a plush yet elegant frame. A quick decant really makes it come to life and expand.
2017 vintage notes
#19 in Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2020, 93 points: " A wine with structure and presence, buoyed by a complex backbone of minerality, wrapped in refined dark cherry and black tea flavors and finishing with fine-grained tannins."
This is finally the WV blend I expected from the masters of Burgundian grapes at Jadot. Half is sourced from their two estate vineyards, Resonance and Decouverte, plus select purchased fruit from some of their favorite vineyards in the valley. Bright and rosy, wonderfully red-fruited, impressively silky and super-pretty. - Marcus
Résonance is Maison Louis Jadot's first wine project outside of Burgundy since their founding in 1859. Jadot, one of the most venerable wine houses in the world, has been producing wines from Pinot noir's motherland (Burgundy) with its first purchase of the Clos des Ursules vineyard in 1826. For its first venture outside of France, the Louis Jadot team became interested in the terroir and wines from Oregon. In 2013, the ideal location was found and the first vineyard bought in the Willamette Valley, specifically the Resonance Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton. The Résonance project is led by famed Jadot Winemaker, Jacques Lardière, who takes more than 40 years of winemaking experience in Burgundy (and now Oregon) and applies it to Willamette Valley Pinot noir and Chardonnay.
