94 points Wine Spectator: "Fragrant and gracefully multilayered, with expressive cherry and pomegranate flavors that mingle with black tea and orange peel accents. Ends with fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2031."
2019 vintage notes
92 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and pretty, with multilayered cherry and pomegranate flavors that are laced with orange peel, clove and spice notes. Drink now through 2029."
Purple Hands rocks another vintage of their Willamette Valley blend, Lone Oak Ranch, sourced from excellent sites around the Valley. Deeply fruited purple and blue tones are joined by a fascinating guava note, plus brown spices and a hit of cherry candy through the finish. The yum factor is high here, so get to work!
2017 vintage notes
93 points Wine Spectator: "Well-built and lively, featuring cherry and blueberry flavors, laced with black tea and smoky spice notes that build tension toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2027."
Cody Wright has been in a wine cellar his whole life. He’s had big shoes to fill; he is the son of quite possibly the most famous Oregon winemaker. We think he’s doing an excellent job making a name for himself and creating his own voice in Oregon wine.
Purple Hands has enjoyed huge critical success with the 2014, 2015, AND 2016 vintages, including a placement in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2017 for his 2015 Latchkey Vineyard Pinot noir and smoking-hot 93 points for 2016 Lone Oak Ranch (which we featured before the score, which we’re quite good at doing if we do say so ourselves). We tasted through his line-up of 2017 Pinot noirs and they are superb, beginning with Lone Oak Ranch, Cody’s Willamette Valley blend.
A blend comprised of vineyards – Freedom Hill, Holstein, Kropf, Latchkey, Stoller – Lone Oak Ranch is ebullient with its mixed cherry and raspberry fruit accented by caramel and spice. It is drinking well right out of the gate, especially with a couple swirls of aeration.
2016 vintage notes
93 points Wine Spectator: "Elegantly spirited, with bright cherry and spice aromas and plushly complex raspberry and brown baking spice flavors that linger on the polished finish. Drink now through 2024."
