One of the best aspects of Pinot Noir is its coolness—not the "I'm hip, I'm cool" kind, but like an ocean breeze. I love Nebbiolo and Cabernet, but they just don't convey coolness in the same way.

What does is this wine right here, Johan's Estate, coolness personified (or perhaps, winified?). You've heard about the Van Duzer Corridor—the gap in the Coast Range mountains that funnels Pacific Ocean air into the Willamette Valley. Johan is the welcome mat for those winds, perched on the threshold of the corridor, channeling the coolness into an ethereally bright and pure red-toned Pinot. Fantastic amaro-like elements from the inclusion of whole clusters during fermentation and fresh winter savory accents (I know, it's plentiful in my garden right now) add zest through the finish. Such a cool wine and value!

Life's too short to drink bad wine.

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.

We are picky. We like to sell wines that we like to drink. We refer to taste the wines sell over several days; we want to know how a wine will evolve, how it pairs with food.
