2018 vintage notes
93 points Wine Enthusiast, Editors' Choice: "Mourvèdre makes up 43% of this wine, with the rest Syrah (34%) and Grenache (23%). The aromas start out high register, with notes of herb, dried flower, peppery spice and blue fruit. The palate is simultaneously flavorful and deft, with tart acidity and a long, drawn out finish. This is extremely impressive stuff, with exquisite balance and an outrageous value to boot."
A marvelous new entry into our portfolio and the essence of a New Discovery, Petit Grosgrain is a dynamite value Southern Rhone-style blend. It has great flavor and texture but eclipsing those is its overall sense of balance. You can sip it for happy hour or have it with a ton of different dinners–we tried grilled salmon with a little cajun seasoning. Yum!
In 2014, Matt and Kelly Austin left their careers as an attorney and fashion designer in California for a new life in the Pacific Northwest. After Matt returned to school to study enology and spent time working with several Washington wineries, they stumbled upon a small vineyard on the south side of Walla Walla.
Planted with uncommon varieties, these 5 acres became Grosgrain Vineyards, a wine company dedicated to championing underdog grapes, sparkling wines, restrained reds and sustainable farming practices.
