La Grive Bleue grows a mere 20 feet from Le Puits Sec but it is utterly unique: it has a different color spectrum than the rest of the Evesham Wood lineup—swirling reds with blues and purples—and a different creamy-silky volume. A little more boisterous, a little more lifted, as the vines approach 30 years-old the '24 adds a rubbed sage/rosemary blossom accent, which is classic to Le Puits Sec, and it's filled with the vivid energy of the vintage and the vibrant soul of Evesham Wood Pinot. Damn, this wine's good!

The winery: La Grive Bleue loosely translates to The Blue Bird; it is named for the Western Blue Bird, the preservation of which was a prime motivation for Russ to farm Le Puits Sec organically. It is a symbol of Russ’s legacy, his commitment to environmental conservation, which we carry with us today. 

In 1996 Russ and Mary traded their eastern strip of land for a strip along their northern border. It was a win-win—the eastern strip was too low in elevation to plant grapes and the northern strip was too hilly for the neighbors to farm.
