2012 vintage notes

96 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh, elegant and expressive, with a lovely open texture that lets the spicy, minerally pear and pineapple flavors glow brightly as the finish gains momentum. Has depth and sinuous shape. Drink now through 2020. 350 cases made."

Exquisite. In my opinion, the best La Source Chardonnay yet. We had this with seared scallops, roasted onions, and lemon cream and it was perfect. - Marcus

2011 vintage notes

94 points Wine Spectator: "Vibrant, expressive, focused and concentrated, dancing lightly with an array of toast and mineral-accented peach, pear, lime and orange blossom flavors, lingering enticingly against refined acidity. Best from 2015 through 2019." 438 cases made.

2010 vintage notes

The 2010 is the follow-up vintage to the highest scoring Oregon Chardonnay of all time. Wine Spectator rated the 2009 La Source Chard 97 points. The 2010 follows a very similar flavor and style, wonderfully blending orchard and citrus fruit, mineral, subtle oak, and a clear beam of acidity. Extremely limited. - Marcus

La Source is a golden straw colored Chardonnay with aromas that include citrus and lemon verbena mingled with flint and mineral notes. Flavors include apricot and ripe cantaloupe and the texture is creamy. The texture is complex and the finish lingers on the palate.

2009 vintage notes

Wine Spectator 97 points: Vibrant and poised, balancing its intense flavor profile of pear, quince and lemon blossom with layers of minerality on an electric structure that sparks with beautifully modulated acidity. A stunning white that has tremendous depth and presence. Drink now through 2020. 487 cases made. - H.S.

The La Source Chardonnay 2009 is focused, bright, and stylistically in a world of its own in American Chardonnay. White flowers, green apple, and flinty minerality coax you in - white peach and tangy lemon build intensity. Like all of the Evening Land Chardonnays, this is made for aging. - Avalon Wine

2008 vintage notes

La Source Chardonnay 08 comes from the 1984-planted block of Seven Springs Chardonnay. Fat yet racy, finding the perfect balance of mineral and fruit, La Source is more open for drinking than the Summum '08, but I'd still anticipate that it will age 4-6 years. - Marcus

Wine Spectator 96 points

Wine Spectator's Harvey Steiman says: "If anything the (2008) Chardonnays are a step up from 2007, which seemed to expand on the previous vintage with more depth and, at the same, more transparency."

Steiman also said "In a way, it's not surprising that Chardonnay did so well. Lafon is famous for his white Burgundies, and his touch is palpable in the Oregon wines. In particular, I was taken with how transparently they expressed the stony terroir."

More from Steiman: "The first vintage, 2007, produced a stunning pair of Chardonnays, which I rated 94 and 93 points. Their balance, power and distinct minerality mark them as turning points for Oregon, great wines and influential over other producers of Chardonnay."
