Our gold standard for Barbera, in a league with few (if any?) peers. 2018 delivers exceptional freshness and elegance to go with the dark intensity of Barbera. If Barolo and Barbera had a lovechild, this would be it. -Marcus
From Cavallotto: The main characteristics of a Barbera usually are its acidity, concentration and ruby red color. However, a Barbera coming from a Barolo area like ours still holds these features even though a bit smoothened and shows an aromatic complexity that is actually closer to the one of the Nebbiolo grape. 2018 vintage gave us a very clean Barbera with an important structure and even more elegant than those warmer years we eventually experienced from 2017 to 2000. The nose shows red and black berries with some floral note that increase its complexity. The palate is mainly characterized but the acidity and aromas that persist for some time. This wine has a particular elegant taste and despite the alcohol content, is easy to enjoy glass after glass. The finish is long and recalls some black berry fruit and violets scents.
