Red currant arrives on the nose, layered with brambly blackberry, tarragon, and forest floor, as notes of dark chocolate and anise wind their way through. An impression of freshly broken vine adds a briary edge to the darker fruit beneath. Fine tannins reminiscent of dried tea frame a tight, beautifully textured palate, finishing long and vibrant. Pair with beef Bourguignon or wild mushroom ragout over whipped potatoes. Drink now through 2038.

The 3.5 acre Heritage Block, situated on the small southeast facing ridge above Gestalt, is planted to the Calera, Mt. Eden, Swan, Pommard and Wädenswil selections of Pinot noir, the ‘heritage’ selections of California and Oregon. Shallow volcanic soils sit atop ancient basalts and, at higher elevations, a thin layer of compacted marine sediments. The vines are more protected from the Van Duzer winds than Basalt and should enjoy additional hours of ripening as well. While still early in the block’s evolution, we expect profound, generous wines full of rich, dark fruit.

Life's too short to drink bad wine.

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.

We are picky. We like to sell wines that we like to drink. We prefer to taste the wines sell over several days; we want to know how a wine will evolve, how it pairs with food.
