How rare is it to have a mini-vertical of 13-15 year-old Washington Cabernet from a top vineyard and winery, cellared at 55 degrees since release? The answer: we know not of another example other than today's offer.

We had such a blast offering the library 2013 Owen Roe Red Willow Cabernet late last year that we're back with more—a lot more. To be precise, a three vintage vertical of Red Willow Vineyard 1973 Block Cab, 2009, 2010, and 2011, straight from the library of Owen Roe founder David O’Reilly.

2011 vintage notes

Owen Roe 1973 Block Red Willow Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon expressed in a classic, structured form. The 2011 shows the redder side of Cabernet, with base notes of ripe blackberries and accents of cedar, graphite, and sage. I recommend cellaring 3-4 years before diving into the first bottle. - Marcus

2010 vintage notes

Sumptuous and silky textured, structured layers of blackberry and cassis explode in the mouth. Black licorice, bittersweet cocoa, dried flowers, and a hint of eucalyptus adding depth and weight. A 30+ second finish of red plum and cherry, blackberry jam, and woodsmoke adds to its power and breadth. A gorgeous wine, though a bit tightly wound, decant if drinking now. We suggest cellaring for 2-3 years before drinking, and holding for up to 15.

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.

We are picky. We don't like to sell wines that we don't like to drink. When we first taste a wine, we determine if it merits further attention. If so, we taste it later that day, perhaps pour a glass that night, then re-taste it over the course of several days. We want to know how a wine will evolve, or if it'll fall apart. We want to know if it truly belongs in your cellar, in your glass, and we want to provide you with a rough idea of when it'll be showing at its best.

Our goal is to describe wines in meaningful ways that you can actually relate to. We actively battle against overly flowery tasting notes. You know the kind. The ones that mention things that no one has ever smelled or tasted. They're mostly B.S. and they perpetuate snobbery that we don't like.
