After 20 years awash in Pinot, I know when one is soulful, when it hits the spot. It's the taste and feel of Oregon, of home. This is it. 

The definition of expressive, it's so vivid in flavor and feel. A vibrant cascade of red fruits—berries, cherries, currants, plums—stretches across the horizon. Some of its elements gently tug in each direction—higher, ethereally and lower, deep and grounded. That is balance. An outstanding, utterly classic Pinot Noir of the Willamette Valley; I know it, it's my home.  

Our 2023 This Must Be The Place Pinot Noir continues to highlight one block of Pommard from Pelos Sandberg Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills. But this year, we are thrilled to incorporate Wädenswil from La Cantera Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains for the first time. This is a study in two historic Pinot Noir clones—Pommard brings depth, structure, and classic fruit intensity, while Wädenswil adds vibrancy, floral aromatics, and a lifted, high-toned character. This is a loving tribute to the place we call home.

Life's too short to drink bad wine.

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.

We are picky. We like to sell wines that we like to drink. We refer to taste the wines sell over several days; we want to know how a wine will evolve, how it pairs with food. We want to know if it truly belongs in your cellar, in your glass, and we want to provide you with guidance on how and when it'll be its best.
