2017 vintage notes
This is the wine I've been waiting for. It always starts with the smell, the wonderfully mesmerizing perfume of Evesham Wood, more magical in 2017 than in the previous half-dozen vintages. My favorite EW Willamette release since the fabled 2010, it's a mythical combination of the 2010 and 2015 vintages, the best two of the past decade.
Bottled electricity, elegantly expressive with red and black cherry aromas and flavors to spare, tenderly woven with ribbons of rosemary blossom. Silky and refined throughout, brimming with youthful energy, superbly balanced, food-friendly and totally sip-worthy, there's a reason I drink more of this at home than any other Oregon Pinot (and it's not just 'cause I'm cheap). It's fantastic.
I recommend buying at least a case and enjoying a few bottles now and the rest in 6 months to 5 years. I suppose you could argue that it would benefit from a little time before really diving in, but you'd have to argue with me. - Marcus
2016 vintage notes
We've said it many times before and we'll say it again: this is consistently the best value in American Pinot noir. Some values come and go depending on vintage, but Evesham Wood's Willamette Valley delivers every single year.

2014 vintage notes
You need a case, then you're going to want another. At first crack, the most open and inviting young Evesham Wood Willamette Valley. You can almost smell how silky it is. Fantastic red and black cherry, framed by hints of dark berries in the background. With more time opened you get more energy and verve, without sacrificing the drinkability. - Marcus

As soon as I opened it, I thought "this reminds me a lot of the 2010" - a huge complement, given that was my favorite Evesham Willamette of all time (winemaker Erin Nuccio agrees with the 2010 comparison). Vibrant, energetic and alive, like a fountain of youth in a glass. I'll be buying at least 3 cases for my house. - Marcus
2012 vintage notes
The best value Oregon Pinot noir. It's the Pinot we drink more of than any other. Sure, the price helps but we love this wine. Boisterous and energetic, with a mix of purple fruits and black cherries. Enjoy it now for its purple-hearted exhuberance or do as I do: buy a few cases, stash them for 6-12 months, commence drinking! An absolute must case buy. - Marcus
2010 vintage notes
Unmistakably Evesham Wood on the nose, they have one of the most distinct aromatic profiles of any Oregon winery. I've tried to put it into words over the years, but words don't do Evesham Wood wines justice. The two best words are "rustic elegance." Sure, there's dark cherries and fresh blackberries mixing with earth and delicate herbs, but it's more than that. It's multi-case material. - Marcus
From winemaker, Erin Nuccio: "When I hear '2010' it gives me a 'tetch.' It was a tough, tough, tough vintage. We had small yields. We essentially harvested 3/4 of our entire crop in 3 days as opposed to taking three weeks. But it worked! Really well! The 2010 Willamette Valley Pinot noir is ageworthy but it's showing great now. I'm ecstatic about this wine."
2009 vintage notes
The most generous, round and creamy Willamette Valley Pinot noir from Evesham in many years. Rich and ripe, it offers aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and a hint of dried herbs. Round and plush, silky red currant, raspberry and pie cherry fruit flavors are accented by hints of spice and herbs. Deep, concentrated, balanced, it's a good-time Pinot to drink now through 2012.
The 2009 vintage in the Willamette produced fairly soft and elegant Pinot noir - perhaps the best analogy would be a riper and richer version of the 2007 wines, with good varietal character and pie cherry tones.
San Francisco Chronicle's Jon Bonne singled out the Willamette Valley 2009 as one of the best value wines worldwide and said:

What: Serious Oregon Pinot for a blink-twice price.
Why: This tiny Salem-based label, founded by Russ and Mary Raney in 1986, has always been a semi-secret choice for those who want real Oregon drinking without an overabundance of winemaking. The blend takes in a range of Willamette Valley sites (the 2009 is all from the Eola-Amity Hills area) but always shows off a lighter, aromatic style of Pinot. It's a tribute to keeping Pinot affordable even amid its star shot. Though the Raneys sold last summer to Erin and Jordan Nuccio, I expect that Evesham will continue as one of those wise insider bets.
2007 vintage notes
Mind-bogglingly good for the price. The 2007 Evesham Wood Willamette Valley Pinot noir has rich aromas of red fruit with cinnamon and rose flecks. Sun-ripened raspberries gush on your palate, balanced by pie cherries and cranberries. Perfectly balanced for 3-5 years of cellaring, but very tasty right now!
Undeniably one of Oregon's classic Pinot noir producers, Evesham Wood delivers exquisite complexity and flavor. And the prices are humbling. One of the best under $20 Pinot noirs anywhere. Russ Raney is one of Oregon's treasures, making finely crafted, Burgundian styled Pinots year after year.
