Two friends seeking Albarino are gently distracted by the uppermost corner of the vineyard—700 Sangiovese vines tucked against Willamette Valley oaks. Not just any Sangiovese vines, but Biondi-Santi clone Sangiovese—the birth-clone of Brunello di Montalcino as we all know it. How do you say no to the opportunity to make wine from those vines? You don't.

I don't feel the least bit badly comparing this to an Old World counterpart because there is no benchmark style for Willamette Valley Sangiovese, to put it mildly! For Chianti Classico fans, it strikes me as Radda-like in its elegant expression of the grape. Bright red in tone, effusive cherry and floral notes throughout, gentle but present tannins playing off of a juicy mouthful of flavor, savory herbal tones weaving through the finish. -Marcus

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.

We are picky. We like to sell wines that we like to drink. We refer to taste the wines sell over several days; we want to know how a wine will evolve, how it pairs with food.
