After writing and rewriting my notes, I couldn’t capture it as well as Ashley Trout, winemaker and founder: We're looking to entirely reinvent Malbec. All too often, Malbec is mass produced or is a fruit bomb. We showcase a Malbec that is somewhere between Argentina and Cahors–something that has not only fruit but also leather, pepper, florals, the whole gamut. Our Malbec is always robust–packed with color, tannin, acid, the skeleton that you would want out of any cellar-worthy wine. We'relooking to showcase what long ageing, luxury Malbec looks like out of Washington state.

And about the stunning label: For Ashley, it was meaningful to have a connection to Argentina for the Malbec label in homage to time there. What spoke to Ashley was the unknown under that fog. There's a fear response to what might be under there that you can't see, but there’s also so much beauty in just not worrying about it. This is the way so many harvests feel–that there are pitfalls ahead, but if you surrender yourself to the beauty of a season, it usually turns out quite wonderfully.

Life's too short to drink bad wine.

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.

We are picky. We like to sell wines that we like to drink. We refer to taste the wines sell over several days; we want to know how a wine will evolve, how it pairs with food. We want to know if it truly belongs in your cellar, in your glass, and we want to provide you with guidance on how and when it'll be its best.

Our goal is to describe wines in ways that you can actually relate to. We battle against overly flowery tasting notes. You know the kind. The ones that mention things that no one has ever smelled or tasted. They're mostly B.S. and they perpetuate snobbery that we don't like.
