Two friends seeking Albarino are gently distracted by the uppermost corner of the vineyard—700 Sangiovese vines tucked against Willamette Valley oaks. Not just any Sangiovese vines, but Biondi-Santi clone Sangiovese—the birth-clone of Brunello di Montalcino as we all know it. How do you say no to those grapes? You don't.

As a massive Sangiovese fan, this completely wins my heart. For Chianti Classico fans, it strikes me as Radda-like in its elegant expression of Sangiovese—effusive cherry with hints of iron-like minerals and saline Sangiovese splendor that makes my mouth water, begging for a bowl of pasta, an herb-roasted chicken, or just about anything because it's a wonderfully all-around table red. -Marcus

Sacred Shore: Apparently, we have found it our lot in life to make cool-climate Sangiovese a thing. Its combination of tannin and acid needs a bounty of sunshine to fully resolve—and our terroir provides just enough, which is exactly what we extract. Just enough time on the skins to craft a wine built to be the perfect table red. The fruit was destemmed into two small fermenters, where native yeasts slowly began fermentation. Over ten days, light extraction developed structure and texture before the wine was pressed to neutral barrels to finish fermentation. It then completed a 22-month élevage in neutral barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving its bright, approachable, and food-friendly character.

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.
