      Lemelson was founded by Eric Lemelson in 1997. All seven of Lemelson's estate vineyards are certified organic by Oregon Tilth. 

      Eric Lemelson designed one of Oregon's most technologically sophisticated wineries with the assistance of then-consulting winemaker Eric Hamacher and Portland architect Laurence Ferar. The 12,000 case capacity gravity flow winery was completed in 1999 harvest, in time for harvest of Lemelson's first vintage.

      Eric Lemelson had two clear goals in mind when he began visualizing the design of the winery. Above all, he wanted to create a “no compromises” Pinot noir production facility focused exclusively on quality. He was also guided by a set of design principles that encompasses clear, compelling aesthetics appropriate for our setting in the farmland of Western Oregon, with ease of use and common-sense function. His material choices were strongly influenced by his background as an environmental lawyer and his commitment to principles of sustainability.
