83% Pinot Blanc, 15% Pinot Gris, 2% Auxerrois.
Tucked into the coastal foothills at the far southwestern edge of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, Fir Crest Vineyard is defined by its quiet isolation and forested surroundings. Planted in 1985 and bordered by towering Coast Douglas Fir trees, the site feels deeply rooted—both in soil and in spirit.
The southeast-facing slope is planted on moderately deep, well-drained silt clay loam soils of the Goodin and Melbourne series—classic sedimentary soils that define the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Though originally planted to own-rooted Grüner Veltliner, those early vines were later grafted to Dijon clone 115 Pinot Noir, and the site has since become known for its elegant, expressive fruit.
Fir Crest has been farmed sustainably from the beginning and is now stewarded by Robert and Karin Moshier, who took over in 2020. Today there are just over 13 acres under vine, including 1.8 acres of old-vine Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, along with a newly planted acre of mixed-clone Chardonnay from 2021.
This is a place where old vines and thoughtful farming come together in a setting that feels more like a forest clearing than a typical vineyard. The wines reflect that quiet intensity—layered, site-driven, and deeply connected to Oregon’s coastal edge.
