It defines the allure of Pinot noir - ethereal and graceful with an amazing ability to envelop your palate in a sweetness that only Pinot noir can deliver.
The Abbey Ridge smells scandalously good. Seriously, it smells as good as any Pinot I've had in years. I have a glass of it next to the keyboard as I'm writing.
Sexy strawberries and cream, plump and juicy summer raspberries, rose petals, hints of red clay and raspberry leaf. It finishes pure and driven, with a subtle mineral spine combining forces with cherry candy, dried herbs and white pepper. Open it now, just to smell it (ok, drink it too!) and plan to stash whatever you can. This is the stuff Oregon Pinot dreams are made of.
In my opinion, Abbey Ridge is one of Oregon's five best vineyards. The vines are more than 30 years old and sit at a high elevation in the Dundee Hills.
