98 points Wine Advocate: "The wine opens to a fresh and opulent nose with a juicy frame that offers a dynamic, pure and focused expression with layers of complexity, healthy fruit and ripe oak tones that sing harmoniously in unison. Full-bodied, the palate is fresh, balanced and succulently ripe, with a balanced structure, juicy acidity and fine-grained tannins, offering tremendous pleasure and a food-friendly finish. Give it time. This might be the best vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon Upchurch Vineyard that I have tasted. The wine aged for 20 months in 90% new French oak barrels. Only 6,300 bottles were produced of this pure, layered and complex Cabernet."
Chris Upchurch is a legendary Washington winemaker, best known as the founding winemaker of DeLille. He chose Red Mountain for his personal family label and vineyard.
The UV Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has elegant aromas of dark fruit, blueberries, bramble berries, and white flowers on the nose that continue into the glass followed by notes of toasty oak and sage. Deep, dark ruby in appearance. Great depth, with ripe, juicy tannins, and a plush mouthfeel. This is a complete wine, fully balanced, with good lift. Aged in 90% new French Oak barriques for 20 months.
