Super pretty and utterly juicy, filled with strawberry and cherry, hints of red licorice, and a heavenly savory pulse. It has everything: elegance, surging momentum, balance, fruit weight, whole cluster spice and savor, texture and length. The best wine yet from Trathen Hall and one that makes us crave what’s next! - Marcus
Ana Vineyard is located in the Dundee Hills AVA. Originally planted by Arthur and Vivian Weber in the mid 1970’s, and later purchased by Bill and Eve Holloran in 2013, the own-rooted vines are farmed biodynamically. Our fruit comes from a steep west facing section of the vineyard. These deep, volcanic, Jory soils produce wines that are based around a core of bright red fruit, soft, elegant tannins along with layers of saline and mineral complexity.
This shows all of the classic hallmarks of a mature Dundee Hills vineyard with lifted red fruits and subtle earthiness of the red clay soils with a background of satin like tannins. Aromatics of fresh raspberry, strawberry and young cherry, and savory notes of clover hay and just-cut button mushrooms. There is a hint of minerality that transposes into bright sassafras and juniper wood. Soft tannins hold a bright acidity and a tapering finish of dried rosehips.
