A bolt-out-of-the-blue value discovery this week. We've had very nice wines from Seven of Hearts and sister Label Luminous Hills, but this 2019 Willamette Valley Pinot is especially good. I tasted it thrice at home, each time thinking "fantastic juice!" So I took it to the shop for Andy to taste, without saying anything. While I pretended to type away at my computer, I waited for Andy's reaction. Bam! I turned around to see a big smile as he confirmed: we've found a new hit!
The magical equation is the cooler 2019 vintage and the warmer Yamhill Carlton estate vineyard, creating a delicious combo of plump, plush darker fruits and vibrant freshness. Great Pinot character, energy, and feel–an outstanding value in estate-grown Willamette Valley Pinot! - Marcus
In the last few years, our Willamette Valley Pinot Noir has become a small production wine consisting of select barrels from our estate vineyard that form an approachable and accessible wine while relatively young. This carefully assembled blend takes advantage of a relatively cool vintage compared to recent years, providing a natural balance with acid for lift and longevity, coupled with depth and richness. Power and a voluptuous palate is provided by the preponderance of Pommard, coupled with the focused red fruit from the 777, spiciness and elegance delivered by the 667 clone but also with just enough 115 to provide dark tone underpinnings and baking spices. Drink now or hold for a decade or more.
