Liska Willamette Valley Syrah 2021

A cool new (emphasis on cool, as in cool-climate) Syrah from the Willamette Valley from a promising upstart winery. You’ll immediately see the inky color but the aromas and flavors are brighter than you expect, with vivid blue tones and crunchy black cherry, floral and spice highlights popping left and right. This benefits from air, so we recommend a quick decanting and a meal.
From Liska (the people, not the dog): We’ve always been suckers for a peppery, cool-climate Syrah, and to be able to actually produce one of our own is a real gift. Grown by Steve Doerner at Symbion Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills. 50% whole cluster native fermentation. Aged 18 months in neutral oak. It’s savory and structured and a pure expression of the variety
We, Chris and Draga, are the founders of Liska Wine along with our loyal German Shepherd rescue, Liska. That is right, Liska Dog came first!
After following harvest around the world for a short while and falling in love with German Riesling and other cooler variety wines, we settled in the Willamette Valley.
We decided to start this wine label at the same time as the arrival of our daughter, so our workload doubled! However, we couldn't be happier to start this journey as a family of three (plus Liska Dog, of course).
