Hundred Suns Old Eight Cut Pinot noir 2018

Oooooh yeah! A huge mouthful of flavor, round and juicy, with silkiness abounding. Gobs of crushed berries, hints of mint and whole cluster savory yum-yums, with a saline lift on the finish.

An impressive quartet of vineyards, each with its own single vineyard bottling -- Breaker, Shea, Sequitur, Bednarik -- forms this tremendous value. The 2018 is the strongest showing yet for this blend. You will not find a better, more action-packed $30 Pinot from our fair state. - Marcus

Old Eight Cut, named for a diamond cut dating back to the 1400s using simple tools and few cuts to enhance the natural brilliance of the stone without disguising its true nature.

This cellar selection stitches together pieces from unique sites across the Willamette Valley. Lots are fermented with native yeast and a variety of traditional and experimental techniques to create a layered wine of great complexity, but that is, first and foremost, totally delicious.

The 2018 vintage continued the trend of warm, sun-soaked Oregon vintages. We picked our vineyards in the key window of late September when we felt the balance between elegance and richness intersected. Winemaking was kept to a bare minimum: fermented with native yeast and 40% whole cluster; aged on the lees for 11 months; gently racked to tank and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
