The Juliette Chardonnay represents a full circle for winemaker Erin Nuccio. When he began making Haden Fig in 2008, his Chardonnay was aged only in stainless steel, with no malo-lactic fermentation. Through process, Erin learned he could make fresh and balanced Chardonnay that retained beautiful acidity while also having the textural enhancement from barrel aging. Now, all Haden Fig Chardonnay is done in barrel; Juliette began as his favorite 3 barrels, picked out a year ago, and aged on lees for extra complexity and texture. He bottled 2.5 barrels (60 cases) of stupifyingly brilliant Chardonnay. If you're wondering whether Oregon Chardonnay is for real, I submit this as proof. - Marcus
