Goodfellow Whistling Ridge Pinot gris 2021
- Buy any 12 bottles or Build a Case® and save!
I've sort of given up on Oregon Pinot gris for home drinking - it rarely has the acidity I crave and all to often adds a touch of sweetness that doesn't suit my tastes. Enter Goodfellow Pinot gris. Depth, texture, freshness, from vines planted in 1990.
Am I surprised that a wine like this came from Marcus Goodfellow? Not at all. He's one of the most dynamic winemakers in the Willamette Valley, if not on the West Coast. Marcus's full range of Pinot noirs continue to stun us, as does his Richard's Cuvee Chardonnay (one of Oregon's best Chardonnays, period). No doubt the new winery has helped increase quality, but Marcus has had the vision and talent all along. I want to give him some Pinotage, quite possibly the world's most maligned wine grape, to see if he can make it good. Something tells me he could. -Marcus
