Whenever I open a new Barbaresco, I always plan to drink it over several days. It's young Nebbiolo, after all. Yesterday I changed that plan because this wine just wouldn't let me stop pouring glasses, right to the end of the bottle!

Elvio Cogno's Barbaresco Bordini 2019 is as expressive, open, and appealing as young Barbaresco gets—the perfect wine to highlight my years-long campaign to encourage you to drink more young Barbaresco (and Barolo). It is graceful and balanced and of course will age should you choose that route instead. Note: I didn't even decant it, and the aromas were wholly enveloping, the palate silky, the finish showing the subtlest of noble Nebbiolo structure. In short, it's delicious and belongs in the hands of fellow Barbaresco fans. I'm adding some to my collection—join me!

Elegantly structured and savory, the vibrant palate features juicy raspberry, Morello cherry, star anise and wild mint framed in taut, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it well balanced. We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.
