94 points Vinous, Josh Raynolds: "A complex, highly perfumed bouquet displays ripe dark berry and cherry scents, complicated by notes of peppery spices, smoked meat and incense. Urgent and focused on the palate, offering concentrated black raspberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors and a strong suggestion of spicecake. Brawny yet surprisingly lithe Pinot that closes with powerful thrust and silky tannins that come in late, adding framework and grip."
2013 vintage notes
One of the best wines Josh Bergstrom has made. Silky and seamless.
93 points Wine Spectator: "Refreshing, polished and juicy, with orange peel–accented black cherry and floral flavors, showing hints of pepper and clove. The finish exhibits pizzazz and grace. Drink now through 2023."
2012 vintage notes
95 points Wine Spectator: "Complex and harmonious, beautifully balancing the red cherry, raspberry and dark plum flavors against hints of tea leaf, espresso and river stones, coming together smoothly and easily. The expressive finish rolls on and on. Best from 2015 through 2024."
Tanzer 94 Points: "Vivid ruby. Intensely perfumed dark berry, Indian spice and potpourri scents are lifted by a smoky mineral quality. Sweet, deeply pitched black raspberry and cherry cola flavors are given lift and cut by juicy acidity and pick up a rose pastille quality with air. At once rich and lively, finishing with superb clarity, palate-staining length and harmonious tannins."
Destined for more big scores from all the the major wine publications. Richly aromatic, exotically spiced, luxuriously textured, the beautiful dark red fruit fans out and just doesn't quit. The most complete and integrated Bergstrom Pinot noir would bring a smile to your face if you opened now, though I'd let them rest in the cellar for a few years or more to capture the real potential. - Marcus
