96 points Vinous: "A hugely perfumed bouquet displays an array of ripe red and blue fruits, pungent flowers and exotic spices, along with hints of cola and smoky minerals. Deeply concentrated yet lively as well, offering palate-staining cherry, black raspberry and boysenberry flavors and building lavender and allspice flourishes. A smoky quality emerges on the strikingly persistent finish, which features steadily building tannins and a strong floral echo."

96 points Wine Spectator: "Seduces you immediately, with expressive violet and dark raspberry aromas that open to polished and brilliantly structured blueberry, savory anise and tea flavors that take on richness on a long finish. Drink now through 2026."
“Beaux Frères has set the gold standard for Oregon Pinot Noir since Michael Etzel planted his first vines in 1988 in an old pig farm, in what is now the Ribbon Ridge AVA of Willamette Valley. The Upper Terrace vineyard is his most recent planting, which is situated just north of and at a higher elevation than the original estate vines. The 9-acre vineyard was planted in 2000 to Dijon clones of Pinot Noir only, and the 2017 is a brilliant expression of the Beaux Frères style: dynamic, seductive and impeccably structured. It was fermented with native yeast and aged in French oak for a year."

2014 vintage notes
95 points Vinous, Josh Raynolds: "Explosive, mineral-accented aromas of red berry liqueur, cherry cola, vanilla and potpourri, accompanied by a sexy floral overtone that gains strength as the wine opens up. Juicy, concentrated and expansive on the palate, offering intense black raspberry, cherry compote and floral pastille flavors and a touch of cola. Displays an extremely impressive interplay of power and finesse, showing a seamless texture and a firm mineral spine. A strikingly long, sappy finish features smooth, sneaky tannins, resonating florality and a lingering suggestion of five-spice powder."
