Our 2022 Cuvée Anne Chardonnay is a barrel selection from our best Chardonnay sites Justice, Koosah, Sojeau and Witness Tree Vineyards. It is a blend that represents our vision of what Willamette Valley Chardonnay is capable of through the lens of the Eola-Amity Hills.

Cuvée Anne emanates a sense of clarity and precision, unveiling a bouquet of floral intrigue, as honeysuckle, lemon myrtle and orange blossom gracefully entwine, delicately complimented by a subtle hint of oyster shell. The palate boasts savory herb freshness at the forefront, followed by a focused acidity, rich with juicy mandarin orange alongside the essence of ripe yellow and white peaches. While retaining its classic Chardonnay character, the 2022 Cuvée Anne delivers an unparalleled density and power along with its generously mouth watering finish.

2019 vintage notes

97 points Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Chardonnay Cuvée Anne comes from several vineyards, including X Novo, Justice and Seven Springs, and matured in about 45% new wood. It has alluring scents of preserved lemon, saline and graphite, with perfumed white orchard fruits. The palate is linear and pure, with a satiny texture and gentle nutty character at this early stage. Its elevated length and purity suggest this has much more to offer with additional time in bottle."

This reserve blend represents Ken and Erica's vision of Oregon Chardonnay; they are among a handful of Oregon producers driving the Chardonnay conversation. Cuvée Anne is a tribute to Erica (Anne is her middle name). When Ken met Erica, he had wine in barrel but says he’d still be fumbling around if Erica hadn’t “pushed him off the ledge” into full-time winemaking.

This wine boasts clarity and precision, leading with supple aromas of Meyer lemon zest, green pear, and white peach, layered with floral notes of honeysuckle, lemon myrtle, orange blossom, and a hint of oyster shells. The palate is intricately fruity with freshness at the forefront, followed by a focused acidity. - the winery

2015 vintage notes

95 points PinotFile: "Captivating steely, stony, flinty aromas matched to fruit aromas of citrus, white peach and pear. Highly mineral-driven, with flavors of lemon-lime, pear and green apple offering a toned and trim impression, finishing with a quenching, steely attitude. A slight bit of tannin adds structure and the slightly creamy mouthfeel adds comfort. Remarkable poise and immense charm."

2013 vintage notes

My personal favorite of the two Chardonnays pours forth with lemons and pears, on a frame that has both great weight and delicacy. Fishing cleanly with nice cut.

2011 vintage notes

Cuvée Anne has a similar character to the Willamette Valley Chardonnay – lots of lemon and lime, flecks of minerals – with a richer and more expansive texture, and a honeyed finish that plays off the bright acidity to perfection.

Walter Scott's premium Chardonnay made with full-flavored power and weight. A racy streak of crisp acidity lifts and brightens the rich apple, creamy pear, and mineral flavors.

Cuvee Anne's blend is 70% Bieze Vineyard and 30% Vojtilla Vineyard.

The Vojtilla Vineyard is a 22 year old vineyard on Ladd Hill in the Chehalem Mountains, the Chardonnay off of this site is incredibly linear and bright. The Bieze Vineyard sits directly above the Seven Springs Vineyard on Lone Star Road and shares a fence line with it.

Our Wine Advice

Life's too short to drink bad wine.

We taste as much or more Oregon wine in a given year than anyone on the planet. We look for the needles in the haystacks, the wines you won't find in your local wine store. Wineries have long sought our help to sell their most limited, unique bottlings.

We are picky. We like to sell wines that we like to drink. We refer to taste the wines sell over several days; we want to know how a wine will evolve, how it pairs with food. We want to know if it truly belongs in your cellar, in your glass, and we want to provide you with guidance on how and when it'll be its best.

Our goal is to describe wines in ways that you can actually relate to. We battle against overly flowery tasting notes. You know the kind. The ones that mention things that no one has ever smelled or tasted. They're mostly B.S. and they perpetuate snobbery that we don't like.

We give you the unfiltered truth about a wine.We believe wine isn't one-size-fits-all. We get to know your tastes and preferences so that we can recommend the right wines for you.

Testimonials

★★★★★

Avalon is a gem. The wine selection is both excellent and expertly curated. Better yet, Marcus and Andy invest the time to get to know their customers personally. So their recommendations fit you like a well-tailored suit (just more reasonably priced!).

Marcus and Andy's knowledge of the wines, wineries and winemakers of the area is encyclopedic and, in my experience, second to none. They have a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of the industry and a knack for recommending wines that are 'in my wheelhouse,' but also the insight to direct me toward new discoveries. I wholeheartedly recommend them to both those in the know and those who would
like to be.

Andy and Marcus only sell wines they would drink themselves, they sell them at reasonable prices, and they take exceptionally good care of their customers. Ethics, value, service…the reasons we buy all our wine from Avalon.

These guys do an outstanding job of sourcing great wines at terrific prices. Their reviews are fun to read and quite on point without all of the nonsense. Whose ever tasted squirrel dung or asphalt anyway? Get on their email list and savor the experience; then tell a friend. That's how I became a dedicated customer of Avalon Wine.
