Haden Fig typically shows the the darker fruited, more boisterous side of Erin Nuccio's winemaking compared to his Evesham Wood Pinot noirs. This Freedom Hill vineyard designate is a prime example: dark, energetic raspberry and black cherry with a touch of fresh-tilled earth. Its acidity and back-end structure work excellently with food–it was an excellent partner to cassoulet on a recent chilly evening.
The third vintage of Freedom Hill from Haden Fig, showcasing the small 2 acre parcel of 23 year-old Pommard clone. This bottle is about ripe morello cherry, and raspberry preserves and extends a firm grip to the finish. Delicious.
