We’re really high on Julia Baily’s Loop de Loop wines, especially this fresh new blend comprised of Mae’s Vineyard Cab Franc (Applegate Valley, Southern Oregon) and Nuestro Sueno Vineyard Pinot noir (Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley), in equal parts. Only 100 cases were made. A “thanks to the Loire” wine inspired by a 2016 trip, Julia said it’s meant to just throw back and not think much about -- in the best of ways.
The spirit of simplicity is alive and well here. Smoky Cab Franc plays with juicy-fruity Pinot for a rollicking good time. Life’s too short to complicate everything; share a bottle (or two) with friends and enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures. Cheers!
From Julia: “After visiting with Francoise Chidaine, Henry Pelle, and some other producers we love in the Loire we had the opportunity to see how they make some of their beautiful red blends that flood into the bistros of Paris. These wines are bright and fresh yet structured and balanced with fruit and verve. I loves these wines and always strives to make wine I want to drink… so there we go… this wine was created. I find this wine to be a little rambunctious, like our pup Romeo… so he got a little credit on the label. Plus, he is with me basically morning, noon, and night and deserves a little of the limelight for his part in the winemaking and vineyard-working process.
“The Pinot in this was only touched by pigéage and has a lot of energy and elegance. We can’t wait to release the single vineyard Pinot noir bottling from this vineyard... soon…The Cab Franc was fermented with very gently without much activity to macerate the skins. This wine is great with roasted chicken and sunshine and simple delicious daily things.”
