I'm not quite sure where to begin with this wine--after all, how many times in our lives do we get to make something hypothetical, real. This wine has been "made" in conversations with customers over the years, where I'll be asked if I could create an ultimate wine that hasn't been made, what would be the factors. Taking Evesham Wood, my favorite Oregon winery deeply rooted in the Eola-Amity Hills, and matching that with my other favorite growing area, the Dundee Hills, was always at the top of any hypothetical scenario.
Over a year ago, when I was visiting Evesham and barrel tasting with Erin, there were a bunch of barrels filled with prime Dundee Hills fruit (I know from which vineyard but suffice it to say, it's prime). We tasted them--an awesome new expression of Evesham Pinot--and remarked, "you really should make a Dundee Hills!" And here we are a year later, with something I never thought I'd see on a label or in a bottle: Evesham Wood Dundee Hills Pinot noir 2018.
I might not have known where to begin with the Dundee Hills Pinot but I know where to end: buy it! A jaw-dropping bargain even within the Evesham Wood stable of incredible bargains. - Marcus
