LongPlay Lia's Vineyard Pinot noir 2013

Continue Shopping or Checkout

A solid value in estate-grown Pinot noir. Red fruit, earth and cinnamon take center stage on an elegant frame.

Previous vintage tasting notes:

Wine Spectator 91 Points: Light and fragrant, this is zingy with cherry, cinnamon and cream flavors, lingering gently and with transparency. Drink now through 2018. 378 cases made. - H.S.

Review: My favorite Longplay wine yet, displaying a pretty transparency and silkiness. Vibrant red fruit and hints of coffee and dried thyme saunter out of the glass. This brand-new release benefits from air - a quick decant or 15 minutes in the glass. - Marcus

More About Longplay

Todd Hansen is the creative force behind Longplay Wines. He is one savvy dude. Before becoming a winemaker he worked as an international trade negotiator for the U.S. in Brussels.

Todd is absolutely gaga about the vineyard. Todd thinks of himself as a farmer first. Although most of his days are spent performing the endless handwork it takes to craft top quality Pinot noir, Todd especially enjoys getting on the tractor to mow or haul compost. What is it about boys and their big boy toys? Todd says "Almost every day in the vineyard is a great day. The rhythm and pace of the growing season are what keeps the job interesting."

The name "Longplay" refers to Todd's concept of making "analog wine in a digital world" as evidenced by his label, which features a long play (LP) record album.

Todd's vineyard site is one of the best in Oregon. When Rex Hill sold off part of their very fine Jacob-Hart vineyard a few years ago, Todd bought it and re-named it Lia's Vineyard. It is managed by one of Oregon's most distinguished viticulturists, Javier Marin. Javier has more than 20 years experience tending vines in the Willamette Valley, most notably working as vineyard manager at famed Shea Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton District.
