Wines For Your Weekend Enjoyment: June & July Hits
Happy weekend from Marcus and Andy,
There were so many hits in June and July that we doubled the number of wines in our offer. We deeply appreciate your support and trust in our tastes and recommendations.
As always, we trust you have great wines lined up for the weekend and in case you need any inspiration or provisions for future weekends, we offer a baker's dozen standouts from the last two months. Cheers to you!

95 points Wine Spectator:"Mint and menthol top notes give way to cherry, plum, leather and tobacco flavors as this red unfolds on the palate. Tightly wound and dense, showing excellent harmony overall, but will likely develop at a glacial pace. Best from 2022 through 2043."
The perfect combination of old-school elegance and structure. - Marcus

93 points Burghound: "A more restrained nose features notes of briar, red and dark berries along with whiffs of Asian-style tea and orange peel. There is once again good vibrancy to the beautifully delineated and somewhat denser medium weight flavors that possess good power that really comes up on the notably more structured, powerful and longer finish. As is usually the case with this wine, it is robust and bold yet not really rustic. I would again point out that it's hard to find comparable quality at the price point."

Another stunner from Sheridan! Another stunner from Sheridan! s black cherries and plums, and a perfect cocoa-dusted finish. Can you handle the truth?! Once we were done tasting it at the shop, I am proud to say I took the bottle home and crushed it with a burger off my grill. Only 120 cases and very limited distribution -- get your Merlot love on today! - Marcus

Liquid gold. The way this wine moves is texturally brilliant: voluminous and mouth-filling yet with an airiness, like puffy white summer clouds in a bluebird, sun-drenched sky. Heavenly citrus in all forms (blossoms, fresh, dessert), sea air, ginger -- complex in all the rights ways and friendly in its nature. In fact, I think it's the most universally appealing Oregon Chardonnay available, in both taste and price. To preemptively answer the question, yeah, it's that good. - Marcus
$62.05 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($68.95 regular)
Elegant power. That's the theme this beauty conveys. It floats effortlessly yet displays richness. A purer expression of Oregon Pinot noir may not exist: old vines, picked at the perfect time, treated the right way, unobscured by new oak, wonderfully balanced in its unstoppable fruit, buoyant freshness, and just-under 13% alcohol. From the most prized block of Maresh Vineyard, Block 3, planted in 1974. As Jim has said many times, this exquisite fruit needs no makeup. It glows like a red sun over the Dundee Hills. - Marcus

97 points Wine Advocate:"The 2015 The Creator is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Syrah, but even though it's in the minority, the Syrah seems to define the wine's personality. The bouquet wafts from the glass with notes of grilled meat, bay leaf and ripe blackberries and mulberries. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich and layered, with immense depth and concentration, its ample core of fruit largely concealing an abundant endowment of fine-grained, ripe tannins. Despite its scale, it eschews extractive excess, and it should be well worth following for the next 15-20 years."
$26.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($29.95 regular)
Outstanding Ribbon Ridge value: "We have a technical term for a wine like this: stupid-good. Up front and dynamic, showing beautiful mixed berries and subtle, spice-laden structure beneath. The product of a clearly outstanding vintage for Whistling Ridge Vineyard, this wine's source, and for Goodfellow, where's there is so much fantastic raw material that a banging single-vineyard Pinot noir has a more basic label designation and a super-modest price tag. - Marcus

The new Goose is ready to fly! A continuation of the style that has made Dusky Goose a customer favorite: a robust expression of Oregon Pinot noir yet undeniably elegant. Deep, sweet, and spicy on the nose, moving into typical Dusky dark dried cherries, bottom notes of summer black berries, pinches of dried thyme, and accents of welcoming barrel spice. Silken and seamless in the way it sashays, dancing through a surprisingly long and packed finish. This reminds us of the 2010 Dusky Goose (one of our two favorite vintages!), with a touch more power and fruit. - Marcus
$44.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($49.95 regular)
94 points Wine Spectator:"Sleek and seamlessly complex, featuring expressive floral lemongrass and steely mineral aromas and plush yet refined green apple and lemon flavors accented by spicy lees. Drink now through 2022."
$80.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($89.95 regular)
97 points Wine Spectator, Highly Recommended:"Perfumed, with wild herb aromas and a subtle mix of strawberry and cherry fruit. Vibrant and dense, with fine acidity driving the long finish. Though elegant, there is intensity and fine energy on the aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2028."
One-of-a-kind vineyard and case "One unique vineyard, 12 distinct wines from 12 top Willamette Valley wineries. Temperance Hill is one of favorite Oregon vineyards. Taste its invigorating character in the hands of Walter Scott, Evesham Wood, Bergstrom, Lumos, Division, Vincent, and more!

An exciting new voice in Willamette Valley wine: Explosively, dynamically aromatic -- an impressive opening into what quickly shows itself as a beautiful, appealing Oregon Chardonnay. Floral and bright with excellent chalk tones, filled with fresh and sweet lemon and ginger. An exciting interplay of density and airy celestial-ness. - Marcus
