Wines For Your Weekend Enjoyment: February Hits

Happy weekend from Marcus and Andy,

Wow, there were a lot of hits in February! We deeply appreciate your support and trust in our tastes and recommendations.

As always, we trust you have great wines lined up for the weekend and in case you need any inspiration or provisions for future weekends, here are a half dozen standouts from the month. Cheers to you!

Walter Scott Temperance Hill Pinot noir 2016
$49.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($54.95 regular)
How do you pick a favorite? The oldest vines in the cellar produced the most compelling wine in the cellar. Aromatically almost naughty -- it just smells so good! Rosemary blossom shades mouthwatering crushed raspberry, all woven together with Temperance Hill's signature indescribable complexity. Wonderfully elegant while also superbly dense, it is this tension that makes this wine, Walter Scott, and Pinot noir shine. Only 125 cases made, of which 15 are available. - Marcus & Andy

Maison L'Envoye Two Messengers Pinot noir 2015
$17.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($19.95 regular)
92 points Wine Spectator: "Focused, complex and light-footed, with floral strawberry and cherry aromas and sleek flavors that accent the mineral and savory spice details."

Cristom Estate Pinot noir 2014
$44.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($49.95 regular)
95 points Vinous: "Suave, smoke-accented aromas of raspberry preserves, pungent flowers, incense and cola, along with a hint of allspice in the background. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering intense red berry, allspice and floral pastille flavors that are sharpened by a jolt of zesty acidity. Shows superb clarity and spicy bite on a long, penetrating finish shaped by silky, even tannins. The interplay of power and finesse here is really something."

Terre Bianche Vermentino Riveria Ligure di Ponente 2016
$22.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($24.95 regular)
My new go-to white wine, this offers a lovely perfume of sea breeze, white flowers, aromatic herbs, and soft fruit. Mouthwatering citrus combines with a saline minerality that works so perfectly with food: fantastic with fish and seafood, great with salads, and even held its own with my version of a quick cassoulet. - Marcus

Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Monfalleto 2013
$43.15 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($47.95 regular)
Fantastic Barolo. Deeply aromatic -- one sniff and you'll be thirsty. Brown spices and savory umami elements combine with a beautiful finesse and fullness, delivering Morello cherry and blood orange. Seamless and surprisingly elegant in tannin but with superb flavor cling, you will thoroughly enjoy this today if, like me, you can't resist young Barolo. Drink now through 2026. - Marcus

Sheridan L'Orage Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$53.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($59.95 regular)
Silky-rich layers of black and red fruits, purple flowers, this is a wine that bounds with energy. When I think L'Orage I think velvet, which rolls from moment one through the awesome finish of mocha, sweet tobacco and licorice. Irresistible at this early stage and supremely age-worthy -- I don't thing you can go wrong with either choice. Never has L'Orage been so refined and so texturally brilliant. If it doesn't receive a massive score, the critics need to be fired! Ships March 1. - Marcus

We're looking forward to helping you with an order. Have a great weekend!
