Wines For Your Weekend Enjoyment

Happy weekend from your friends at Avalon!

We hope you have great wines lined up for the weekend and in case you need any inspiration or provisions for future weekends, here are some greatest hits from 2017. Cheers to you, and thanks for your support!

Casa Smith Barbera Cervo 2014

$17.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($19.95 regular)

93 points Wine Advocate

The best Oregon or Washington Barbera we've ever had, and "easily the finest example of this variety I've tasted from Washington," from Wine Advocate reviewer Jeb Dunnuck. Winning over critics and customers alike, we've had multiple requests for more.

Luke Jefferson The Head and the Heart Pinot noir 2014

$58.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($64.95 regular)

94 points Vinous, Josh Raynolds, and one of our favorites!

Luke Jefferson is a thrilling new project from Steve Doerner, winemaker for Cristom, and his wife Irene Steh-Doerner. Named partly for their son, Luke, and partly for Thomas Jefferson (and perhaps just a tiny bit for Luke Skywalker). Totally awesome. If you collect Oregon Pinot, this is a must-have.

Matthews Claret Columbia Valley 2013

$31.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($34.95 regular)

#27 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2016, 93 points: "Firm and focused...a sleek core of blackberry, currant and plum flavors that keep singing on the expressive finish. This has room to grow. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2022." We had another couple glasses of this Thursday and it rocks! Positively excellent juice.

Vidon Pinot noir Chehalem Mountains 3 Clones 2014

$35.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($39.95 regular)

94 points Wine Spectator, Highly Recommended: "Sleek and harmonious, open-textured and transparent, letting the raspberry, pomegranate, rose petal and spice flavors dance through a long and inviting finish." From rocket scientist turned winemaker, this '14 is already drinking beautifully, enticing you with summer raspberries, cherry candy, and subtle floral notes.

Timothy Malone Willamette Valley Pinot noir 2014

$22.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($24.95 regular)

From one of our favorite rising-star winemakers, this begs to be opened now, gushing with dark cherry goodness up front before picking up licorice and rosemary-accented blackberry on the finish.

Isole e Olena Cepparello Toscana IGT 2013

$67.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($74.95 regular)

97 points Wine Advocate: "Hands down beautiful, The 2013 Cepparello is a creation of stunning elegance and balance. One of my favorite wines of the vintage." We were fortunate to have a visit yesterday from Isole winemaker/proprietor Paolo de Marchi. Simply an incredible wine for any fan of Sangiovese, or Italy for that matter.

We're looking forward to helping you with an order. Have a great weekend!
