Walter Scott's Blazing: La Combe Verte and Ruth 2016s
We've written (and written) about Walter Scott being the hottest Oregon winery. Well throw a few more logs on the fire, put another shrimp on the barbie, they are now positively BLAZING. When the nicest people around make some of the best wine around, amazing things can happen. That, folks, is the Walter Scott phenomenon.
We are thrilled to introduce you to Ken and Erica's first 2016 releases: La Combe Verte Pinot noir and Chardonnay, and Cuvee Ruth. In case you haven't heard, 2016 isanotherfantastic vintage, the first time in history we've had three potentially classic vintages in a row!
Like a summer romance, it begins with infatuation: once you sip it, it's all you're going to want to drink. You'll figure out what happens in fall and winter when the time comes but I'll bet that you're still going to be loving La Combe Verte Pinot.
Loaded with delectable red cherry and plum -- equal parts juicy, lively, and slurpable -- you'll want to dive right in. Surprising depth emerges, with sweet and delicately spicy earth notes and a perfect bead of freshness exploding at just the right time. Buy a case, drink half now-ish and continue the romance for years to come.A blend of Freedom Hill, Hope Well, Justice, Sojourner, and Vojtilla vineyards. - Marcus

We have a shared vision of Willamette Valley Chardonnay with Walter Scott; we've all been early and vocal proponents of the grape's potential here. Their Chardonnays are the realization of that potential, beginning with the La Combe Verte. Bursting with a variety of citrus fruits, Gravenstein apple, and minerals, it's ready for prime time.
Now here's the drill: there's very little of this available, it's a fantastic deal in Oregon Chardonnay, and it represents the Walter Scott Chardonnay program with the following superb vineyards: Freedom Hill, X Novo, Clos des Oiseaux, Sojourner, Vojtilla, and Witness Tree. Speak up, quickly and loudly, lest you lose out. - Marcus

RFG! Strawberry and dark cherries shine in this young cuveé, adding a fresh blackberry bass note. The fruit marries with the acidity producing a bottled energy and making for an exciting peek at the 2016 vintage. Welcoming aromas of dried tobacco leaf, cinnamon, and evergreen forests pulled me back to the glass again and again.
A beautifully integrated blend of four established Eola-Amity Hills sites: Seven Springs, Temperance Hill, Sojourner, and Lewman, two of which (Temperance & Seven Springs) have consistently produced some of the best Pinot noir in the U.S. - Andy
