Unprecedented! Oregon's 95 Point Pinot Parade

Big and exciting news from Oregon: a completely unprecedented number of 95-point reviews for Oregon Pinot noir!!

Moments ago, Vinous, one of two leading world wine publications and one for which we have a ton of respect, published their annual Oregon Pinot report, titled An Embarassment of Riches and RichnessThere have never been so many 95-point reviews for Oregon Pinot noir published at the same time. Ever!

We have deep respect for Vinous' Oregon reviewer, Josh Raynolds -- his tasting notes are simply outstanding (see below) -- and our tastes tend to align more with his than any other reviewer. His take on 2016 mirrors everything we've been saying for a year: The 2016 vintage in Oregon's Willamette Valley was yet another for the record books in terms of quality."

Okay, enough bragging...to the wines! Here's the first round from the report from several of our top wineries, including one of three 96 pointers.

Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering intense red berry, allspice and floral pastille flavors that are sharpened by a jolt of zesty acidity. Shows superb clarity and spicy bite on a long, penetrating finish shaped by silky, even tannins. The interplay of power and finesse here is really something."

Combines power and finesse with a deft hand, offering palate-staining black raspberry, boysenberry and spicecake flavors that deepen steadily on the back half. Shows sharp delineation and a suave violet pastille quality on the strikingly persistent finish, which features fine-grained tannins and a sappy, resonating dark berry liqueur note."

Juicy, appealingly sweet and concentrated yet lithe on the palate, offering intense raspberry, cherry liqueur, spicecake flavors and a hint of candied rose on the back half. Delivers solid punch but comes off graceful, showing absolutely no rough edges on its extremely long, vibrant, red fruit-driven finish."
