We taste so many wines in a year that it's impossible to count them. Only a few reach the status where we proclaim: "any and all fans of ______ will love this."
It happened Friday...and Saturday and Sunday, while the bottle was still going strong. The ____ was Cabernet. The wine is Pirouette 2016. Technically it's only 68% Cab, but we're throwing any/all technicalities out the window because this wine is dinner, drinks, and dessert delicious. We universally recommend it. How's that for an endorsement?
$58.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case order ($64.95 regular)
Us: Completely, totally a wine that any/all Cab fans will love. Doubly awesome (see below). Perfectly dark and lush cassis accented by tobacco and bittersweet chocolate, with tannins so silky that they're buried within the overall beauty. Opened Friday, it was gorgeous and fresh Sunday evening, when I couldn't help but finish the bottle. - Marcus
97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "It’s a total blockbuster based on 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Crème de cassis, blackberries, toasted spices, cedar, and forest floor notes all emerge from this deep, rich, opulent red that has sweet tannins, a thrilling texture, no hard edges, and a monster finish. This is another best-to-date from this estate and it’s an awesome wine."
And another Cab that we're wild about:
$44.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case order ($49.95 regular)
94 points Wine Spectator: "Dynamic and multilayered, with polished blackberry, crushed stone and licorice flavors that build momentum toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2026.
Us: Old vines will not be denied! From the oldest Cab blocks in Seven Hills Estate Vineyard, planted in 1980, this 100% Cab is complex and shows incredible presence and balance. And we're telling it like it is: Seven Hills could charge more for this, given its pedigree and the prices of many of their Walla Walla peers.
And last call (already) on this!
$34.15 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case order ($37.95 regular)
94 points Wine Spectator: "Spirited and plush, with expressive pineapple and pear flavors, accented by buttery brioche and spice notes that build richness on the opulent finish. Drink now through 2023. 221 cases made."
Us: Super-rich and decadent, dishing poached pear and lemon brioche with spice accents on the creamy, powerful finish. - Marcus
