Ultra-Classy Avennia Reds
We've been working on this for months. Most wineries aren't worth the hassle, frankly, but most wineries aren't Washington's Avennia.
When Avennia first launched, we instantly recognized they were in a different, elevated class -- some of the most refined Washington reds we had ever tasted came in their early releases. Then supply and distribution became a major headache...until we intervened to bring back the ultra-classy Avennia wines.
After a special sneak-preview tasting last week, we're even more stoked to have Avennia's regal reds back. The entire range -- every single wine -- rocked our expectations. Sophisticated, classy, velvety, exuberant: the list of compliments can fill up pages. We urge you to check them out!

Avennia Sestina Red Blend 2015
$62.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($69.95 regular)
96 points Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Sestina is showing very well, offering up a rich, more exuberant bouquet than the 2014 rendition. This emphasizes notes of cassis, black plums, dark chocolate, espresso roast and a subtle framing of new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied and lavish but controlled, with an ample, more sun-kissed core of fruit and fine-grained structuring tannins.
Positively outstanding, this blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc shines as one of Washington's top Cab-based blends. A special wine, even at this early stage. Enjoy with abandon. - Marcus
Avennia Gravura Red Blend 2015
$35.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($39.95 regular)
93 points Wine Advocate: "A blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Gravura exhibits a classic bouquet of cassis, pencil shavings and rich soil, followed by a medium-bodied, velvety and layered palate, with a rich core of fruit that's attractively vibrant and already incipiently complex. This is a sophisticated, well-balanced and keenly priced Bordeaux blend that definitely impressed me."
The focus here is sophistication and class -- a perfectly composed blend that cries out to be enjoyed. - Us
Avennia Valery Red Blend 2015
$47.65 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($52.95 regular)
93 points Wine Advocate: "A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Valery offers up a creamy bouquet of ripe plums, wild berries, dried flowers and candied peel that's marked by its Champoux Cabernet Franc component. The Merlot makes its presence felt on the velvety and plush medium to full-bodied palate. Nicely concentrated and complete, the wine concludes with fine-grained tannins and a nicely delineated finish."
Our first time tasting this blend and wow, fantastic juice! Excellent purity of red and black fruits, supreme velvetiness, a plush beauty. - Us
Avennia Justine Red Blend 2015
$35.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($39.95 regular)
92 points Wine Advocate: "A blend of 55% Grenache, 32% Mourvèdre and 13% Syrah, the 2015 Justine reveals aromas of spicy black fruit, cracked black pepper and licorice. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, pure and succulent, with velvety tannins, a juicy core of fruit and ripe, mouthwatering acids. It's an attractive Côtes du Rhône-styled blend. Drink it over the next 5 or 6 years."
Elegance and beautiful Grenache character, oozing with black raspberry and cracked pepper aromas. One of the best and best value Chateauneuf-style blends from the Northwest. - Us

Avennia Arnaut Syrah 2016

Arnaut has quite the track record for reviews -- it has been the top-scoring Avennia wine more than one vintage (including 97 points for the 2015). One taste and we instantly began anticipation of another rocking review; there are only a handful of Washington Syrahs that do deftly combine amazing texture and richness, classic Syrah character, and seamless balance into a blockbuster wine. - Marcus
