Three Can't-Miss Wines from the Week
We continue to experience a wealth of fantastic new wines from Oregon and Washington. Oregon is experiencing a first-ever string of three incredible vintages in a row: 2014, 2015 and 2016. And as Washington's 2014s arrive in our glasses we are loving them. Here are three can't-miss wines -- the first is another knock-out Pinot from Lingua Franca and the next two are greatest hits from the week in review. We hope your weekend is superb. Cheers! Lingua Franca Pinot noir Eola-Amity Hills Tongue 'N Cheek 2015
$58.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($64.95 regular)
94 points Wine Spectator, Highly Recommended: "Lithe and delicately complex, offering rose petal and tart blueberry aromas, with effortlessly balanced raspberry, river rock and spice flavors that finish with refined tannins. Drink now through 2022. 594 cases made."
One of our new discoveries of the year, we've been thrilled to introduce you to the inaugural Pinot noir and Chardonnay releases from Lingua Franca, unquestionably one of the most exciting new projects in years. Sidestepping the impressive resumés of those involved, what made us seek these wines and want to share them with you was the truly exceptional wine in the bottle. We highly encourage you to get in on the ground floor -- this is a star that's guaranteed to rise.
To Washington and our favorite Bordeaux blend of 2017:
$44.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($49.95 regular)
Holy $#!+ this is awesome. Beautiful, mesmerizing fruit grabs your attention -- blackberry first, then black cherry and black currant -- adding mocha and cedar accents. There's an elegance and balance to it that I simply don't taste in 99.9% of Washington reds, which is evident from first sip and all the way through the rich, expressive, pure and silky finish. Already gushing and with plenty of years ahead of it, this is equally outstanding as a wine to drink today as it is for the cellar. 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot and 7% Malbec. An April Northwest Big Reds Club selection. - Marcus
Back to Oregon and a classic Pinot noir from a pioneer we trust every vintage:
Bethel Heights Pinot noir Eola-Amity Hills Estate 2014
$28.75 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($31.95 regular)
Bethel Heights, one of Oregon's pioneering wineries, is a winery we trust every vintage and an unabashed favorite. If it were virtually any other producer in the Willamette Valley, we'd be surprised that this wine is this good for under $30. But we've come to expect this incredibly quality and authenticity from Bethel Heights. Outstanding!
92 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh and expressive, with depth to the plum, currant, floral and mineral flavors. Comes together seamlessly on the open-textured finish... Best from 2018 through 2024."
We look forward to helping you with an order. Thanks for reading and for your support!
